C&E RENOVATION EXPERIMENT FIVE: CAPSULE WARDROBE VI – 2015 SPRING FASHION TRENDS: THE 70S AGE OF AQUARIUS, BOHO, WIDE LEGS, FRINGE FEST IS BAAAACK…

[Previous post in this thread: 2014-15 Fall-Winter Color Fashion Trends]

“True Fashion is a deep current that changes only every four or five years and is the inspiration of some particular creator, while Passing Fashion are ripples of no great importance, which are carried off by the winds of a single season and are invented by a number of different designers. It is the former that change the lines, volumes, and length of the mode; the latter are especially concerned with details and most of all with trimmings…  Of course, in order to be elegant, you must be in fashion. If the latest fashion is exactly what suite you, so much the better!… those fortunate women who have already established their own style and intend to preserve it should concentrate on the less startling models, which will not be dated like a bottle of wine by some current fashion detail”.

The core of my spring 2015 wardrobe will be centred around my neutral based spring “capsule wardrobe” basics consisting of: a little navy dress, a little black dress, two skirts (navy, black), three pants (camel, navy, black), three jeans (blue boyfriend, black skinny, blue skinny), three sweaters/blazers (camel, navy, black), a white long-sleeve shirt, seven high end tee-shirts (white, camel, turquoise, raspberry, emerald green, navy, black), a camel trench coat, black leather jacket, flats (navy, black), purses (navy, black) and an assortment of necklaces and scarves.

As I do every season, I like to add one or two non-essential capricious “fashion” confections offered en masse four times a year by crafty designers such as a tee-shirt, scarf, sweater, to my basic capsule wardrobe to spice it up a bit; although I know it will be yesterday’s news in a blink of an eye.

According to the plethora of fashion blogs that my eyes consume with abandon, the following appear to be the spring of 2015 trends.

Colours: Marsala (colour of the year), strawberry ice, tangerine, yellow (all shades), custard, toasted almond, lucite green, military greens, aqua marine, scuba blue, classic blue, navy, white, glacier grey, black & white and blue & white graphics.

Clothing styles are a flashback to my ephemeral youth: shirtdresses, polo style shirts, flared culottes, kimono style trench coats, one shoulder cuts, cropped baggy jeans, denim suits, all white (head to toe), boho evening wear, leather, suede, whimsical trouser suits, girly girl party dresses, tulle ballerina wear, fringes, urban military/safari, maxi length dresses, bridal white wedding cake frocks, flared pant legs, crop tops, turtlenecks, restructured dark denim (dust off your bedazzlers).

Patterns: gingham (the new black? I don’t think so), 70s flower power florals (it is spring), literal prints, sheer/transparent (as in see-through white lace).

Footwear: comfortable flat shoes, gladiator sandals, platforms.

Accessories: medium sized obi and sash belts, mismatched earrings, chokers, IT bags, fancy aprons, berets.
